Our volunteers can help you fix small appliances, computers, electronics, clothing, jewellery, books, and more - all for free. Learn new skills, meet your neighbours, and keep useful things out of the landfill.

1. When and where is the next Repair Café?

Check our event list for upcoming events. Click on events to see details about the time, location, and what we're able to repair at that event. To avoid lineups, we recommend coming early - check the event details for the last call time which is when registration closes.

2. What kinds of items can I bring?

We typically have volunteers who can help with computers, electronics, small appliances, clothing, and more. Please check the repair categories for the event before you come. That said, things don't always go as planned - we can't guarantee that a Fixer with the right skills will be available for every repair.

Please note that we're unable to accept large appliances, items with refrigerants (such as fridges or air conditioners), or anything requiring specialized safety certifications to repair.

3. How many broken items can I bring?

You're welcome to bring multiple items, but to keep wait times manageable, we can only examine one item per person at a time. If it's busy, you can take a number and enjoy chatting with your neighbours while you wait.

4. How long do repairs take?

Most repairs take less than 30 minutes to complete, though some may require more than an hour depending on complexity. We recommend planning accordingly to ensure you have enough time for your repair.

5. Who are the Fixers?

Our Fixers are community volunteers who love to repair things and share their knowledge. Their skills range from electronics and computers to furniture, clothing, bikes, and more. Each event brings a mix of talents - and plenty of enthusiasm!

6. What kind of help can I expect?

Fixers work with you to diagnose and repair your item. You'll get hands-on guidance and learn practical skills along the way. Please note that repairs are not guaranteed, and for clothing, our focus is on repair rather than alteration.

7. Is there a cost?

All repairs at Repair Café Willowdale are free - our volunteers donate their time, skills, and materials. If you're happy with your experience, cash donations - at your discretion - are greatly appreciated to help us cover our costs.

8. How do I register?

No need to sign up in advance - just show up! Registration is first-come, first-served on the day of the event and stays open until last call. Arriving early is the best way to guarantee a spot.
